If you hear the bird again please try to record it using your phone (voice memos or
turning on the video feature both work well). It would be a great early record although I
think this gorgeous spring weather will retreat next week for those adventurous birds who
have arrived.
The Red-winged Blackbirds returned en masse to a still-frozen swamp here in E Dalhousie,
Kings Co sometime in the past 3 days. The 30 or so birds managed to find some perches to
broadcast their songs on top of snags and beaver lodges. Grackles too.

Subject: [Naturens] Spring!
I have received a number of emails explaining why I can’t possibly have heard a
Red-eyed Vireo this morning, with all kinds of maps and data.
I withdraw my observation. There is no way I can reasonably pit my ears (and years of
experience in the woods) against all your eBird data, etc. Probability is against me and
with the data.
