Hi Richard (and all),
Thank you for dealing with the HCC bank account situation.
In the past the club made an annual contribution to the Chebucto Community Net which hosts our website otherwise for free. According to its website, the Chebucto Community Net is a volunteer operated federally registered charity. If a new treasurer does not emerge I vote for Chebucto receiving a donation, with thanks.
I hope all is well with you ... and everybody!

Hello, All.
As you know our Treasurer, Richard McNair, has passed away. The
club has a bank account that Richard managed, and because my signing
authority was never removed, I should be able to straighten this
situation with little hassle.
However, because I do not wish to be treasurer, and because the
account is little used, and because we no longer collect dues, it is
my suggestion that I close the account, pay off any monies owing, and
then give the remainder away as a charitable donation from the HCC.
It is further my suggestion that the recipient chosen be computer
related. Our money could go for computers or supplies for some school,
or given generally to the education system for the same purpose. It
might go to a seniors' group, or to some underprivileged group. In
whatever case, it would be donated with the stipulation that it be
used strictly for computer purposes, and that this be proven to us.
I do not currently know the amount involved, but believe it to be
under $1,000. There is no rush regarding this because to the bank,
nothing has changed; however, I would like to see this cleared up by
the end of September at the latest.
What I need from the membership is:
* A decision either to maintain or to close the account.
* If it is to be maintained, a treasurer will have to be found.
* If it is to be closed, suggest which group might get the money.

Please answer this e-mail as to your decision regarding the club's
bank account, and what you believe should happen next.
