Hi, Dave-
If you can get a close look at the damaged leaves, you should check for
the characteristic "shot" holes made by the adult beetles. They are
about 1mm or less in diameter, and are, if not absolutely diagnostic, at
least a very good indication that the tree is under attack by Orchestes
fagi.
